Abstract

Literature shows the goal. Literature is to show the path through which people should progress. Commerce excels in Sangam literature. Commerce is the business of buying and selling manufactured goods. Merchants call the produced goods commodities, and the place where they sell them is a market. The people of the Sangam period bartered the goods they needed by giving away surplus goods. When talking about the trade of the Sangam period, it is said that how the living conditions of the people of that time, how the Tamil kings of the Sangam period encouraged the merchants in their countries to develop the trade, which the trade excelled in agriculture and handicrafts, etc., and how the economy improved and the people lived well. In my research article, I have mentioned some of the products produced by the people during the Sangam period. In particular, the purpose of the research is to tell about the news like jaggery, sugar, pepper, salt, conch, pearl, ivory, etc.
