Abstract

Bharati, popularly known as Mahakavi, was a journalist, poet, freedom fighter and a pioneer of modern poetry. He has praised nature in his works Papa Paatu, Kannan Paatu and Kuyil Paatu. Because of its focus on nature, the poems are characterized by a large number of naturalistic descriptions. Where nature is described, the contributions of living creatures to humans are explained. In his poems, Bharathiyar has mentioned birds like sparrow, crow, chicken, cuckoo, cow, bull, horse, goat, elephant, lion, tiger etc. It emphasizes that children, like winged sparrows, should be able to move freely here and there, on land and in the sky.
